A Servomex gas analyser has demonstrated outstanding results in a six-month trial at a typical coal-fired power station. The equipment was used to analyse oxygen and carbon monoxide in a flue gas in order to achieve efficient combustion control at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), one of the world's leading independent research institutes. In addition to major international clients, EPRI's clients represent over 90% of the electricity generated in the US. The typical fuel cost for a power station of similar size to the one used in the trial is $2 million per month. The Servomex analyser reduced average oxygen levels by around 1%, which represents at least a 0.5% reduction in fuel costs. The use of this analyser would thus deliver potential savings of $10,000 per month on this unit alone.
