Generating power from renewable resources

Brazilian power company Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais is the largest combined power generator and distributor in Brazil, with over 50 power plants in operation, the majority of which are hydroelectric. To ensure continuous uptime and make faster and more reliable maintenance planning decisions, the company has installed Brüel & Kjær Vibro’s machine condition monitoring systems at a number of its hydroelectric generating stations. The systems provide comprehensive monitoring techniques for detecting and predicting a wide range of potential failures. This has resulted in a reduction in machine downtime and maintenance costs and improved operating procedures for the generators and turbines.
