Spectris plc, the precision instrumentation and controls company, today issues a trading update ahead of its results for the year ending 31 December 2004.
Demand continued to be strong in the second half and consistent with that expected at the time of the Interim results announcement in September. The group saw very good orders from Asia and North America but more modest levels in Europe. The supplier issues experienced in the first half did not impede shipments in the second half. Sales for the full year will have increased by 7% to 8%.
The anticipated outcome for 2004 is that Spectris will deliver profits (before tax, exceptional items and goodwill amortisation) ahead of last year and in the middle of the range of analysts’ estimates.
The company starts the year in a good position notwithstanding the risk of further adverse currency effects. The full year results will be announced on Tuesday, 15 March 2005.
